This backpack has done a great job of allowing me to comfortably carry everything I need and it's usually a lot!.
My favorite feature is the small zippered compartment on the top outside of the bag. Its the perfect size to hold my student id, debit card, mp3 player, phone, cash, chapstick and keys the stuff I would normally carry in a purse and makes them easy to access rather than in the main compartments amongst the larger items or where you would have to dig down to the bottom to find them.
I also like that the compartments are waterproof towards each other. The tupperware I was carrying my lunch in leaked while in the middle compartment and the liquid didn't even touch my computer or books! Plus I just wiped it out with papertowel and it didn't leave anything behind!
The outside-side compartments are the perfect size for a large Nalgene-type bottle on one side and an umbrella + pop bottle on the other side.
The built in laptop compartment is great and I don't worry about it getting injured during normal moving around while its in there. The bottom is even well padded, which I was happy to see because putting the bag down on the floor is where potential damage would most likely occur. The area between your computer and your back is also nicely padded so no corners dig into you.
The capacity of the bag is better than what I expected. On a regular basis, I fit my 17 laptop + 2 three ring binders + 2 case books + the FRCP (large!) + Restatement + my planner in JUST the large compartment. In a pinch I've even squeezed a book in each of the small compartments.
I should note that, even with all that stuff in the bag, the straps don't cut into my shoulders and I don't feel like I'm pulling a trailor behind me (meaning it sticks out).
I use the bottom compartment for is my laptop's powerchord or sometimes a change of shoes if need to wear heels at school but want to come/go in flipflops.
I've always had good luck with Jansport products and will continue to buy them in the future!

He likes the bag too, and found it practicle.
