1-2 Week Trip
Before you leave on a long trip
Empty the trash and clean out your refrigerator.
Cancel your morning Paper.
Have your mail held at the Post Office.
Have someone check in or watch your pets and plants.
Be sure your bills are paid. Prepay your rent, phone, utilities, and cable. You don’t want any surprises when you get home!
Have someone check on your property (a neighbor or friend).
Close windows in case of foul weather.
Change the message on your answering machine (but try not to let it tempt thieves!)
Be sure to let people close to you know you’ll be gone. And give them your itinerary in case of emergency (hotel, car rental, and flight information).
